Am I that dumb?

OK, so as it turns out, it wasn't Apache (http://www.apache.org) or Redhat (http://www.redhat.com).  It was a
little program called slocate.  It's sets up a cron job (not on my
computer) in cron daily that runs its updatedb command (not on my
computer) every morning (not on my computer).  The server was
setup this way (but not any other server I've had).  I know,
from running, updatedb at home manually, that it takes up
resources.  I would usually run it and go get a sandwich or
something.

Running it on a server every day, with a lot more information to
update, is silly, in my opinion.  After removing slocate.cron from
cron.daily, I've now had quite a few days without any problems.

I also discovered that the system time was set to central time.  I
changed it to eastern (not that it matters) so that everything I do is
synced.  Since the backup server is in a different state, it makes
sense to have the crons running on the same schedule.

Anyway, I'm sitting here in front of a blank bulletin board.  My
goal is to have it filled by today (ain't I ambitious?)  I had
some kiddies write essays starting with My favorite book is…
Now, I'm thinking of posting the best ones (along with a list of all
their favorite books) and then having some type of vote.

Of course, they'd have to read all of them..hmmmm..  Also, I have
a display table in front of the board, so I think I'll display some of
the oft-favored books on there.

I'm having serious issuse with student helpers right now.  Something must be done, but I don't know what yet.
